I’m finally in town from a few trips and I can sit down and extract little precious memories from my head that I’ve carefully stored away to share with you after I got back. Mostly, I’m excited to introduce you to places that I think you should put on your bucket list and make it a perfectly clear goal to visit in your lifetime. One of these places is Bora Bora, and more specifically, the Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora, a place that I could only imagine was built with Tahitian magic and godly creativity.
First, flying into Bora Bora Island is a beautiful treat for your eyes and a stunning serenading of your soul. Viewing the breathtaking island from thousands of feet above is quite unbelievable. While you already can’t handle all the excitement, this view reassures you that something spectacular is about to happen….You’re arriving in tropical paradise.
It’s probably common knowledge that wherever you can stay in a place so heavenly like this island, you would enjoy your time, but after my experience at our hotel I realized : that could be true, BUT staying at such an indelible place can be like the difference between having a regular chocolate cake and having a double layered molten chocolate lava souffle. (You get what I’m saying? The difference is beyond worth it) . The resort is decked on brand new, seemingly untouched, unweathered and beautifully constructed (as well as kept) wooden huts. They have their very own lagoon filled with thousands of little fish with colorful marks on them like little masterpieces, a massive infinity pool overlooking the towering mountain of Bora Bora and the beach so clear and calm you could literally count waves passing by. Every ocean loving cell in your body will dance joyfully and tickle your veins till you can’t even wait to put your luggage in your room. I just wanted to throw all my belongings and run through the sand straight into the water. I couldn’t wait for what the next ten days were going to bring.
They recommended some water activities, some sounded extremely fun and some I cowered away from at first, like deep sea snorkeling with sting rays, thousands of fish and sharks. Yes I said sharks. I chuckled and said : “HA! I’d never do that!!” Next thing I knew I had signed up for it and what do you know….We did it! It’s almost like this island gives you some kind of unseen-before courage. It ended up one of the most amazing experiences in my life. We also discovered the main island (see my last blog post in TRAVEL).
The restaurants in the resort were delicious. French Polynesia is obviously very french influenced, so the restaurants brought in french technique but with local fish options. Safe to say that blew our mind, especially the sushi sunset bar where you could enjoy your yummy sashimi while gazing into the romantic multi colored candy skies as the sun sets….Men, this would be a good time to propose to your lady, trust me she’ll be swept off her feet (wink wink boys).
After an unforgettable ten days, filled with unparalleled service, calm walks around the earthy tropical grounds, a tranquil few days spent at the world’s most majestic spa, and night swims from our over-water bungalow, It’s safe to say this was one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken in my entire life.
